September 11, 2007 Metro Committee Meeting Minutes

Meeting opened with moment of silence followed by the serenity prayer.

TVA Area Report ˆ Area is doing well. Reported on Portland passing proposal to move forward with Metro. Area voted for Alan for treasurer position.

Spooky dance coming up. Held GSR workshop on the Group IP, discussing workshops to address inventory items. New Outreach committee is up and running.

GWV Area Report ˆ Some discussion about beginning Outreach work reaching out to groups absent from Area. Discussion on following PR handbook procedure to merge H&I with PI. Committee to further investigate and bring back to Area for discussion. Great support for a Metro schedule. Dave will be working on development of a Metro schedule master to submit to the Metro Committee next month.

Portland Area Report ˆ Good summer for events. Beverly Beach and Unity in the Streets were successful and profitable. Year end picnic at Oaks Park had low attendance this year. David welcomed back as Metro rep. Asked for support of Gilbert and Alan for Metro positions, and advised that we are beginning work to get checking account. Portland has set aside $200. to support Metro. Two dances coming up, a black light dance October 5th and a Spooky danceOctober 27th. Workshop to be held on Sept. 22nd at 1:30 at URS club by Director of World Service Office to discuss Groups, Areas and Metro.

Portland phone line committee ˆ Doing well, ready to join Metro. Has a shift open on Friday for 5 -9 she would like to fill with someone outside of Portland. David from TVA volunteered to take shift. Needs updated Metro schedule. Lynda asked Dave to attend the next hotline committee meeting on Sunday, September 23rd at the Round Table Pizza at 60th and Foster at 5:45

TVA Activites ˆ Picnic at Cook Park in Tigard on Sept. 30th. Spooky Dance Oct. 27th at St. Batholomew‚s church. Speaker meeting at 7, dance at 8:30. Taffy pull for kids. Bowling 3rd Sunday of month at 1:30 at Park Lanes in Hillsboro. Activities meets the last Sunday of the month, but this month

Read and discussed the third concept of service.

Question on how Areas decide what matters to refer to groups.

Discussion on PI / PR transition. Need for reading the guidelines provided by NA World Service.

Question on GSR representation for Region.

Discussion on service.

What do we do next? Develop a Metro Area Schedule with Hotline‚s number on it. Bring hotline into the committee. Develop a budget for the committee. Select Area representatives. Shared activities calendar. AA intergroup website has a good website. Develop Metro web page? Interest in what Metro is doing.

David will develop logo for leaflet

Check signers were identified as per our guidelines. Alan M will open an account using his personal funds until the committee has funding to repay him. Area representatives will ask their areas to forward those funds which have been set aside for the Metro Area.
